The Legendary Empire, Lakshmi Hospitals was established on November 19, 1969 in Udayarpatti, Tirunelveli and the founders being late Dr. L. Madhavan Pillai and Dr. M. Ramalakshmi.
Our Founder Chairman, Late Dr. L. Madhavan Pillai was a well-known Paediatrician, expertise in intensive neonatal care. He also encompassed the specialized medical training, professional responsibilities and personal qualities for the care of infants, children, and adolescents.
As the Visionary Founder of Lakshmi Hospitals, Dr. M. Ramalakshmi is more than just a Gynaecologist; she is a cornerstone of healthcare in Tirunelveli and a symbol of maternal care in Tamil Nadu. Now in her 80s, her spirit remains undeterred. She has achieved the monumental feat of conducting over 1 Lakh (100,000) deliveries. Her commitment to public health was formally recognized by the District Collector on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu, awarding her for her excellence in family planning services. Along with him, his wife Dr. S. Meena, who as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and the Medical Superintendent of Lakshmi Hospitals, had the profound honour of welcoming thousands of new lives into the world and advocating for women’s health in our region. For over three decades, her mission has been to provide a safe, nurturing and scientifically advanced environment for women at every stage of their lives. Her path into medicine was driven by a specific passion for maternal-fetal health. After completing her specialized training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, she focused her practice on bridging the gap between traditional bedside care and modern surgical techniques.
As the Medical Superintendent, she works alongside her husband, Dr. M. Lakshmanan, to uphold the highest standards of hospital administration.
